Here's my first field recording and first upload on here. I recorded my friend's fireplace in his apartment for a theater production through my college for which i was the sound designer and sound board operator. I used a zoom q3hd with its built-in stereo xy microphones at about a foot or so away from the fire (on the bricks directly encasing the fireplace) with some make-shift baffling around the fireplace (safe, i know). This track is an edited version, a sort of "best of".

Field recording of a train ride in the western outskirts of paris. I wanted to capture what passengers actually hear when they take that train. It's a bombardier regional train with diesel engine. This is simportant because it gives this particular train a distinctive acoustical fingerprint: you can hear engine bursts (a bit like a bus hitting the gas) no electrical train does that. . . It also has a nice roaring drone. Recorded with a zoom h2n in stereo x/y mode.

A peaceful "scene" of winter birds foraging in a large thicket of wild blackberry brambles. Among the birds that you hear, juncoes, and the beautiful little white-crowned sparrow -- the white-crown's song -- towards the end of this recording - is more melodic that his neighbors. Recorded on christmas day of 2015 in a beautiful abandoned farm field which provides great habitat and food for the midwest's winter visitors. Recording made on a cloudy 40-degree day with a sony pcm-m10.

My bathroom fan is humming while operating. As you might hear, the fan is full of dust and dirt, so it does this "unround" noisy humming. Recorded with a tascam dr-40. Field recording of a summer afternoon (28th june, ~20:30) in berlin lichtenberg. The recorder (edirol r-09rh) was set in a very high building, therefore the sound consists mainly of ambient noise, eventually with subtle concrete sounds (birds, childs, dogs, sirens,. . . ). The audio is unfiltered, so it's dominated by low-frequency energy. Filter as you wish :). (the web preview seems to have some high frequency artifacts. This one has a very vocal blackbird finishing off the evening (8pm). All recorded whilst staying in a converted barn in rhos, wales. Recorded on my zoom h4n, there maybe some wind noise in places and maybe a very high flying jet, but mostly it is just the sound of nature. There is a nearby stream in the background too. These are the original uncompressed untreated files. Hope it is useful to someone.

5. 1 surround field recording of the center courtyard of the barbican estate, an ensemble of brutalist concrete block highrises in central london/uk. It is a weekday morning, some people are walking and talking on the premises. A group of schoolchildren passes some distance away at the beginning, some light construction work is going on in the midrange, and in the far range the busy city noises of london can be heard. The recorder is in the center of the courtyard facing into the complex. Recorded with a zoom h2n and matrixed to 5. 1 surround.

Mid range field recording of the area in front of the new york times building in new york, taken from opposite the building on the corner of 8th ave and west 40th st. Cars can be heard driving by, horns are honked, brakes are trodden etc. A sweeper vehicle features sometimes. People can rarely be heard, as the recording was done at about 6 am on a saturday morning in march 2012. Recorded with a zoom h2, mics set to 90° dispersion.
